Diwa ng Sulu

2 min read
Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have recently uploaded my series called "Diwa nf Sulu" (The Spirit of Sulu). This collection revolves mainly around the culture and history of the Tausug people in the Sulu islands. I have lived with these people, and fell in love with the land and their culture. In fact I have been adopted by a clan there.

These works were commissioned by the Sulu hotel in 2000 to 2001.

****************************

For all those who have given me a 'fave" and a "DA watch":

My great thanks to all of you, and I wish I could have the time to thank every one of you, especially for those who commented.

Unfortunately, I am very very swamped with my many responsibilities: in teaching, art making, environmental and human rights concerns . . . plus for the fact that I am maintaining 3 accounts here at DA.

Aside from this, I have my main account (lakandiwa) and the school account that features my students' works (IARFA). I wish to remind you that this account features my old works from at least a decade back, as well as the styles and media I explored then.

Once again, my thanks and blessings

Salamat (thanks) at Samuli (and until then),

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have finished uploading the rest of these works on mythological creatures. And now I share the last of the series which are the demons, and they are the jewels of this series since they are more detailed and quite stunning compared to the others (and the last to be completed in 1990). Mind you, these drawings are all 20 years old.

I am no longer into drawing mythological creatures just for the heck of it, especially demons. But I will start drawing them again once I have uploaded all the old ones.

As for those with a demon fetish, I do wish to remind you that these were done in my younger days (so don't expect me to draw them like I used to), and my newer works can be viewed at my primary account:
lakandiwa.deviantart.com/

However, I too am excited to see how will I translate these creatures with my present skill level and experiences.

Thank you,

Lakan

PS

Do take time to view my students' works at:

Salamat (thanks) at Samuli (and until then,

Lakan

Ladies & Gentlemen

This is Lakan (lakandiwa.deviantart.com) and I have just created this new account to upload my old drawings (around 20 years back).

This new page is to feature my drawing on mythological creatures. Once I have completed uploading the old works, then I will create new ones. These drawings revolve in my interest in mythology around the world, and my attempt to illustrate these ancient creatures as anatomically correct as possible.

Thank you,

Lakan

PPS

I will only 'watch' my own account (lakandiwa) and my student's account (IARFA). If I am to give a 'fave' or 'watch', it will be using my lakandiwa account.

Sa susunod (til next time),

Lakan
